Telecom Regulatory Authority of India

TRAI has played an instrumental role in making international calling more affordable. New provision by the authority have helped several Indians, especially those from SAARC nations to make call to India at much lower rates as compared with normal ISD calling rates. They have not only slashed the prices but have also improved the quality of call and connectivity across the nations. All of the above mentioned developments have helped people stay connected at cheap tariff rates no matter where they are or where they call.
Primary Points
There are several points to ponder over before choosing a service provider to make the best out of it. The first point to check is the maintenance fee of the card. It can vary from a few months to few weeks depending upon the terms and conditions defined by the service provider. The rounding system is yet another thing to take care of as it may add significantly to the cost of call to India. This involves rounding long-distance calls to 1 second, 30 second and up to 3 minutes as well. In addition, some even charge for connecting a call to your desired number. Some may deduct money even when you are connected to a busy call. The connection charges can vary from 0 to 25% or even more.
Free Access Numbers: Many service providers provide the facility of free local call to certain numbers. These numbers include a customer care service number and other access numbers from where you can get connected to your desired destination.
PIN Free DiallingThis facility is available with most of the cards used to call India, however, seldom people know about it. With it you can make calls to India without entering your PIN again and again. All you need to do is to register your number on the PIN Free Dialling set-up. The service provider registers your pin and lets you make calls to your frequently called numbers with any lengthy security authentication.
